Why would you upgrade, and Medela giveaway ends soon!
Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, most health insurance policies cover a double-electric breast pump at 100% (need to get yours? Just fill out this form.). The basic breast pumps are great – they get the job done, effectively and efficiently – so you may wonder why you would bother paying an upgrade fee. It’s different for every mom, but we’ve found lots of reasons why mom might upgrade. Hint: Upgrades are usually more important to those super-on-the-go moms.
What is considered an upgrade actually varies from among manufacturers. It may be a different pump with more features, it may be additional accessories orbags. Usually the upgrade option includes one or more of the following:
- Totes & coolers
- Battery packs, bottles, additional breast shields, massaging inserts and other extras
- Greater adjustability for strength and suction
- Timers, nightlights and digital displays
- Smaller pumps for better portability
- Quieter pumps for pumping in public settings
Many pumps, like the Medela Pump In Style Advanced, come in a 100% covered option and then with upgrade options like a tote or backpack. Medela also offers a higher-end breast pump called the Freestyle (learn more and enter to win a FREE Medela Freestyle; giveaway ends next Sunday, May 14).
