How long does the Dexcom G7 sensor and the new Dexcom 15 Day sensor last?

The original Dexcom G7 CGM System features a 10-day wear time and is indicated for individuals ages 2 and older.


The new Dexcom G7 15-Day CGM System offers an extended 15-day wear time and is indicated for adults ages 18 and older.

What insulin pumps are compatible with the Dexcom G7 and the Dexcom G7 15 Day?

The original Dexcom G7 CGM System is compatible with the Beta Bionics iLet Bionic Pancreas, Tandem t:slim X2 insulin pump, Tandem Mobi, and the Insulet Omnipod® 5.

The new Dexcom G7 15-Day CGM System is currently compatible with the Beta Bionics iLet Bionic Pancreas and the Insulet Omnipod® 5. Compatibility with the Tandem t:slim X2 insulin pump and Tandem Mobi is expected in 2026.

How accurate is the Dexcom G7 and the Dexcom G7 15 Day?

The original Dexcom G7 has an overall MARD of 8.2% when used by adults and worn on the upper arm. *Dexcom, data on file, 2025.

How often does Dexcom G7 and the Dexcom G7 15 Day check blood sugar?

Dexcom G7 records blood sugar levels up to every 5 minutes.

Where can I put my Dexcom G7 or the Dexcom G7 15 Day on my body?

Dexcom G7 sensor may be inserted on the back of the upper arm (for users ages 2 years and older) or on the upper buttocks (for children ages 2–6).

The new Dexcom G7 15-Day sensor may be inserted on the back of the upper arm or the abdomen (stomach) and is indicated for adults ages 18 and older.

Do I need to buy a Dexcom G7 receiver separately?

No, when purchasing the Dexcom G7 CGM system, it comes with the Dexcom G7 receiver.

Is the Dexcom G7 10 days or 15 days?

Dexcom G7 now offers two wear options:

  • Dexcom G7 (10-day wear) – FDA-cleared for ages 2+
  • Dexcom G7 15 Day (15.5-day wear including 12-hour grace period) – FDA-cleared for adults 18+
