Self-Adjusting* Insulin Technology

Insulin pump therapy with a MiniMed™ system helps make it easier to stay in range.

MiniMed 780G with CGM

MiniMed™ 780G Insulin Pump System

Approved for insulin-requiring Type 1 (ages 7+) and Type 2 (ages 18+) diabetes, the MiniMed™ 780G insulin delivery system uses Meal Detection™ technology* to automatically adjust insulin every five minutes, helping keep glucose levels in range—even when life gets busy.

  • Anticipates — Looks ahead at where your glucose is going using real-time data and past patterns to estimate how much insulin you’ll need.
  • Adjusts — Fine-tunes insulin delivery throughout the day to help prevent highs and lows.
  • Corrects — Automatically helps bring down highs, even if carbs were undercounted or a meal dose was missed.

Sensor options: The system works with multiple sensors, including the new Instinct sensor, made by Abbott, and the Guardian 4 sensor.

Mealtime dosing: The bolus calculator does the math and tracks active insulin to help prevent stacking and lows.

More stable blood sugar: Automatic basal adjustments help reduce highs and lows day and night.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who are the MiniMed insulin pumps indicated for?

The MiniMed 780G system is approved for people with Type 1 diabetes ages 7 and older, as well as for adults with Type 2 diabetes who are insulin-dependent. The CGM component of the system follows these same indications. The new Instinct sensor, made by Abbott, is currently approved only for people with Type 1 diabetes, while the Guardian 4 sensor is approved for people with either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.

What continuous glucose monitors work with the MiniMed 780G system?

The MiniMed 780G insulin pump system works with both the Instinct and Guardian 4 sensors. Depending on the sensor you select, you may need to update your pump software, but the latest MiniMed 780G software will work with all options.

Which smart devices are compatible with the 780G system?

To see whether your smartphone or your Apple® Watch is compatible, please check the MiniMed compatibility tool.

The MiniMed™ Mobile app lets you view your pump and CGM information on your smartphone or compatible Apple Watch, making it easier to track glucose trends and receive alerts if you’re heading high or low. The app also supports automatic uploads of pump and sensor data to CareLink™ software. The MiniMed 780G system is the only MiniMed system with a mobile app that works with select Apple Watch models. An iPhone is required to use the Apple Watch extension. iPhone and Apple Watch not included with the MiniMed 780G system.

Does insurance cover this system?

Yes, many insurance plans (including Medicaid and Medicare) cover insulin pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring that integrates for those who qualify. Once you’ve completed our online application, we will work with you, your healthcare provider, and insurance company to help you get the insulin pump and supplies you need. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Diabetes Care team at DCA@myehcs.com.

Are fingersticks required with a MiniMed 780G system?

The MiniMed™ 780G system significantly reduces the need for fingersticks, but does not eliminate them entirely. The Instinct sensor and Guardian 4 sensor do not require fingersticks for calibration or for making treatment decisions when using SmartGuard™ technology†. In most situations, you won’t need to check your blood glucose. However, for safety and to ensure the SmartGuard algorithm performs at its best, there are certain situations where the pump may still request a fingerstick reading.

Important Safety Information: MiniMed™ 780G system with SmartGuard™ technology with Instinct sensor, Simplera Sync™ sensor, and Guardian™ 4 sensor

The MiniMed™ 780G system is intended for the continuous delivery of basal insulin at selectable rates and the administration of insulin boluses at selectable rates for the management of type 1 diabetes mellitus in persons 7 years of age and older using the Instinct, Simplera Sync™ or Guardian™ 4 sensor, and of type 2 diabetes mellitus in persons 18 years of age and older requiring insulin using the Simplera Sync™ or Guardian™ 4 sensor.

The MiniMed™ 780G System includes SmartGuard™ technology, which can be programmed to automatically adjust insulin delivery based on the continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor glucose values and can suspend delivery of insulin when the sensor glucose (SG) value falls below or is predicted to fall below predefined threshold values. The system is intended for use with connected sensors, including the Simplera Sync™ and Guardian™ 4 sensors and integrated continuous glucose monitors, including the Instinct sensor, each of which has different wear-time, form factor, insertion site, and other distinguishing characteristics that relate to sensor performance. Consult the appropriate sensor user guide when using the system. Discuss treatment decisions with your HCP.

WARNING: Do not use the SmartGuard™ feature for people who require less than 8 units or more than 250 units of total daily insulin per day. A total daily dose of at least 8 units, but no more than 250 units, is required to operate in the SmartGuard™ feature.

WARNING: Do not use the MiniMed™ 780G system until appropriate training has been received from a healthcare professional. Training is essential to ensure the safe use of the MiniMed™ 780G system.

WARNING: Do not use SG values to make treatment decisions, including delivering a bolus, while the pump is in Manual Mode. When the SmartGuard™ feature is active and you are no longer in Manual Mode, the pump uses an SG value, when available, to calculate a bolus amount. However, if your symptoms do not match the SG value, use a blood glucose (BG) meter to confirm the SG value. Failure to confirm glucose levels when your symptoms do not match the SG value can result in the infusion of too much or too little insulin, which may cause hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.

Pump therapy is not recommended for people whose vision or hearing does not allow for the recognition of pump signals, alerts, or alarms. The safety of the MiniMed™ 780G system has not been studied in pregnant women, persons with type 2 diabetes using the Instinct sensor, or in persons using other anti-hyperglycemic therapies that do not include insulin. For complete details of the system, including accessories and additional important safety information concerning indications, contraindications, warnings and precautions associated with the system and its components, please consult https://www.medtronicdiabetes.com/important-safety-information and the appropriate user guide at https://www.medtronicdiabetes.com/download-library.
